Support
I'm registered with the FamilySearch website. But I can't log in to Family Search in MacFamilyTree.
MacFamilyTree can only access the New FamilySearch web service, not the regular Family Search website. It has been approved for access so it officially supports New FamilySearch. If you can't log in, this most likely is because you haven't been granted access to the new service by the proprietor, the LDS.
Currently, only LDS church members have full access and from the feedback we get, MacFamilyTree works great for them. We are, however, not part of the LDS, we're as much part of the general public as you are.
Registering for access as described in MacFamilyTree's User Guide will get you on the waiting list, but we really can't do anything to speed up the process for you. Please see this thread in the FamilySearch forum for more information: FamilySearch information for the general public
To access FamilySearch via MacFamilyTree, it is recommended to set the date and time preferences to automatic, as deviations of the system time to the actual time can disturb the connection to FamilySearch.
To change the date and time preferences please do as follows:
- Right click on the date on the right side of the Menu Bar and select the entry "Open Date and Time Preferences"
- Make sure that the checkbox "Set date and time automatically" is checked in the "Date & Time" menu
More information is available in the User Guide. You can find it in MacFamilyTree's Help Menu or for download here.
